Date added: 22/09/2011 Get Matty Shields and Shimmy to the World Pole Championships

Matty and Shimmy have been accepted into The World Pole Championships Doubles to be held on October 1st 2011, they have only just been advised of their entry which hasn't given them much preparation. Matty is a full time nursing student when he is not Pole Dancing so he doesn't have the funds to pay for his airfare and accommodation, so its up to you and me to help him make the journey to Budapest and represent Australia at the World Pole Championships.

Matty Shields: Matty is an incredible talent. He only started pole dancing about 1 and a half years ago, and in his short career so far he has:

been a special guest performer at the Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships 2010,
First runner up at the Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships 2011 Mens Division,
Second runner up at the Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships 2011 Doubles Division (with me),
Performed at Pole Reflections, and - starred on Australia's Got Talent, where he made it to the semi-finals.

Matty has become very well known across Australia for his fusion of modern pole dance with traditional Aboriginal dance. He is something of a legend in his community, and he won the hearts of the broader Australian audience when he appeared on TV, which took quite a bit of courage given that the mainstream Australian audience had never really seen male pole dance before. In addition to being an amazing dancer, Matty is just about the most charming and delightful person you could hope to meet.

Shimmy: Shimmy is a pole dance teacher and performer. She own the Pole Dance Academy with her sister Maddie. Shimmy performs regularly across Sydney, and has competed at a national and international level, both in Australia and overseas.
